Who is your least favorite ice hockey team?

Each player has 11 main attributes that affect their performance in a game. The other characteristics of a player influence other areas of the game.

goalkeeper
Ability of the player to play as a goalie - together with speed, determines the effectiveness of the goalie in warding off shots.

defense
Primary skill for defenders to repel enemy attacks. Of course, defense is also used by strikers, but less than by defenders, because strikers mainly attack.

attack
Skill and ability of field players for offensive actions, mainly used by strikers (used by defenders in the same way that defense is used by strikers).

Shoot
Shot is used by field players to score goals.

Passing / puck control
Outfield player - high or low passing skill can increase (or decrease) the chance that the shooter will score a goal. Important for centers because their primary task is to play passes and create good chances.
For goalies, puck control / passing is used to control the puck and pass after it saves a shot. Insufficient puck control will give the opponent a higher number of bouncers. These apprallers have a higher chance of scoring than normal shots.

Strength
Centers use strength (along with attack) to win bullies, and all outfield players need strength in defensive actions. Combined with adequate line aggressiveness, strength can increase line dominance.

speed
Used by all players - as a primary skill for goalies and a secondary skill for outfield players.

Self control
Outfield players - low self-control results in more penalties - The number of penalties is also influenced by the aggressiveness of the line.
Goalies - low self-control can cause the goalie to lose his self-confidence and his concentration after a series of faster goals. For the rest of the game, he'll play worse. In the match report it is stated as follows: 'The goalkeeper has temporarily lost his confidence'.

All of these properties improve in training and during games. The size of a player's progress during a game depends on the player's position. Further information on training and on improving the attributes can be found under Training.

The following attributes affect a player's performance in a game, but are not dependent on the rules discussed above. :

energy
Players get tired during a game depending on how long the players stand on the ice. The longer a player's ice ages are, the more the player's energy level drops. The goalkeeper gets tired when he fends off the opponent's shots on goal. The more shots fired at its case, the lower its energy level will be after the game. The loss of energy has the following effects on the performance of the players: If a player loses more than 30% of his energy, the goalkeeper, defense, shooting, strength and speed attributes will also be 30% weaker during the game. This also happens when a player starts a game with an energy deficit.
The energy of the players increases and decreases during the training, according to the settings for the 3 training phases. The players also regenerate during the night (practically while sleeping), regardless of the training settings. Very tired players (less than 60% energy) have an increased risk of injuries during play or training.
In the detail window of a game you can see the energy of the players before and after a game in a column Ene.

Form, experience
A good form and a lot of experience allow a player to use his skills as efficiently as possible. On the other hand, there is a risk that a player with poor form and little experience will make a gross mistake ...

A player's shape reflects their current physical and mental state. It is not directly influenced by training or games. The shape is mainly influenced by factors that are not part of the game (such as the player's personal life). The shape has a certain direction in which it moves a little every day. To best reflect these changes, replace players in bad form with those in good form. The direction of the shape can change in each game. The chance that the direction of the shape will improve can be influenced by:
- light or medium training (only applies to players who have not played)
- good performance in a game

Injured players' shape slowly deteriorates during the injury break.

Players can only gain experience in one game. Players get the most gain in experience during important games, such as playoff games or international matches.

Other player characteristics:

Age
The players age by one year at the end of the season. When a player has reached their age horizon, their attributes slowly begin to decline.

contract
Shows the number of days remaining on the player contract.
In the detailed view of each player there is the function "Dismissed". Fired players with less than 40 quality disappear. The others try to find a new club by entering the market as players without a contract ..
All player contracts are automatically renewed as long as the team has enough cash for the bonus.

injury
Shows the type and duration of the injury.

salary
The player's daily wages under their current contract.
Foreign players in the team receive a bonus of 15%.

country
Nationality.

team
The team that the player is currently under contract with.

quality
A very important characteristic of the players, which has no direct influence on the performance in a game, but has a very strong influence on the training progress. When the value of a single skill reaches 150% of the quality, the training for that skill slows down significantly.
The quality value of a player is determined when he is "born" and can no longer change.

potential
Each player has their own age horizon. When the player reaches this age, the attributes slowly begin to decline. A player's potential gradually decreases with age. If the potential has reached 0, it means that the player has reached his age horizon.
The difference between a player with 30% potential and one with 50% is that the player with 30% potential will reach his horizon first and the attributes will start to decline sooner.

Ability index
The skill index is the sum of the main attributes of the player (excluding form and experience).

Goalkeeper's weak point
Players who aim at the goalkeeper's weak spots while shooting have a better chance of scoring a goal. This attribute is only visible to the current owner of the player.
It is possible for the team to define a preferred target for the shots. This is done in the game settings window. If set to normal, the shots will be split evenly. This setting is also shown in the match report - Your own games only.

Stars
The number of stars represents the star status of a player. The three best players in a league game are mentioned in the match report, these players are more popular with the fans and are therefore gradually becoming a star.
In the player's detail window, you can watch the progress of a player's star status. It is expressed as a percentage and is calculated by the scouting department.
Another factor influencing a player's star status are the statistics at the end of each season. These are :
Canadian scoring table - Players sorted by number of goals and assists.
Top scorer - All players sorted by number of goals scored.
Best defender - the defenders ranked according to the goals scored and assists taken into account. This category includes every player who has played all league games as a defender.
Best goalkeeper - The goalkeepers are ranked according to the saved shots. Only goalkeepers who have been in goal for at least half of the season are counted.

What role do star players play in the team? Star players undoubtedly demand a higher salary, but there is also a good side to these players: more viewers come to the games and they also buy fan articles.
A list of all of the team's star players can be found under "Players", "Stars".
When a star player changes leagues, his star status decreases a little.

satisfaction
A player is satisfied when he is used enough often in league games. Satisfaction only affects free agents in the transfer market - see this part of the guide for the transfer market.

Levels of satisfaction:
excited
happy
satisfied
hopeful
neutral
uncomfortable
dissatisfied
depressed
rebellious

loyalty
This is the attribute that decides what contract options there are for a player who becomes an unrestricted free agent.
Contract options:
1. Contract for 70 days, bonus 0, the player's salary will be their standard wage plus 1/70 of 45% of the highest bid from other teams
2. Contract for 70 days, bonus 40% of the highest bid from other teams, the salary is calculated from the standard formula
3. Contract for 140 days, hand money 70% of the highest bid from other teams, the salary is calculated from the standard formula
4. Contract for 210 days, bonus 100% of the highest bid from other teams, the salary is calculated from the standard formula

The player's loyalty can have 6 different levels. Depending on the loyalty, there are the following contract options:
-3: The player will not give the club the opportunity to outbid the highest bid. The only way to keep the player on the team is to outbid all other teams during the deadline.
-2: The player will accept the following types of contracts: 4
-1: The player will accept the following types of contracts: 3, 4
1: The player will accept the following types of contracts: 2, 3, 4
2: The player will accept the following types of contracts: 1, 2, 3, 4
3: The player will stay on the team until the manager decides to sell or fire the player

Number of players in the team
If the team has fewer than 20 players, the manager will be removed from the team (see rules of the game). If a team has more than 64 players, no youth players will join the team and it will not be possible to buy more players.
