Buses on the way again according to the holiday schedule from Thursday

Articulated buses can be used again on more and more routes, so From Thursday, February 18, the holiday schedule will apply again on all bus routes. Lines 43, 53 and 61, which were previously closed, will also be in use again. The bus routes are currently operating according to an improved Sunday schedule, as only standard buses can run on many routes due to the road conditions and their number is limited.

Meanwhile, tram traffic is almost back to normal. Only the one Breite Weg southern section is currently still closed. After the freezing rain, the MVB can resume traffic. Night traffic starts punctually at 11:15 p.m. The tram and bus lines will also be able to start daily traffic at 4.30 a.m.

Freezing rain has moved over Magdeburg and has made the streets as smooth as glass. In addition, the overhead lines of the tram were covered with an ice sheet within minutes. The trams currently stop at the stops and do not continue. The buses headed for the depot for security reasons.

Plus degrees are expected at night so that the overhead lines could thaw again. The MVB hopes to be able to offer scheduled tram services again at the start of the day. Bus traffic should be resumed during the night if possible.

Almost all routes were connected to the network again by the weekend. On Monday, all tram and bus lines will be in use again. So the Herrenkrug for line 6 could be released again on Sunday lunchtime. The Herrenkrugstrasse should now be passable during the night. The southern section of Breite Weg and Leipziger Strasse between Fuchsberg and Halberstädter Strasse remain closed.

Line 3 will be extended tomorrow until the reform, as the Leipziger Chaussee / Rebenweg turning loop cannot be used. This can lead to deviations from the timetable in the direction of Olvenstedt.

Start on the weekend all bus routes - almost all tram connections possible again.

In the past few days, MVB has made great strides in winter service operations. Thanks to the tireless efforts of countless employees, many sections of the route were cleared of snow and ice, so that almost all connections are possible again.

According to the current status, the Stretches wide path, southern section and exhibition grounds <> Herrenkrug blocked.

The Main station section <> Olvenstedter Platz was able to thanks to the support of employees of the public order office be put into operation. The officers helped to remove incorrectly parked vehicles so that snow plows could be used to clear the route.

The Westring section <> This village is to be cleared on Friday night, so that, according to the current forecast, it will be cleared again from Saturday Line 6 can be served.

Background to the Sunday schedule on the bus routes:

Due to the road conditions, articulated buses cannot currently be used. These would not be able to pass different roads due to the snow masses. Therefore, the MVB only has a limited number of standard buses available to serve the entire network.

Change in night traffic from 11:15 p.m., valid on the nights from Friday to Saturday, Saturday to Sunday and Sunday to Monday:

From now on, night traffic will be on the Lines N2 and N8 trams come into use. The Line N2 runs from Alter Markt like tram line 2 via Otto-von-Guericke-Straße, Hasselbachplatz, Südring, Wiener Straße, Raiffeisenstraße to Buckau and Westerhüsen.
