And if you want to go a step further, impress your friends and relatives with a bit of eggnog knowledge: Did you know that the forerunner of eggnog was a Brazilian soft drink made from avocados, rum and cane sugar? However, since the avocado trees did not really want to thrive in Europe, an alternative was needed. Egg yolk was the decisive solution and the creamy-sweet liqueur was born.

If you want to make eggnog yourself, in our opinion brandy goes perfectly with it. The sweet aromas of the brandy make the eggnog in combination with fresh vanilla simply irresistible.

Preparation steps

Fill a saucepan with water so that the bottom is 2-3 cm covered. Bring to a boil, reduce heat.
Separate the egg yolk from the egg white and beat with salt, sugar and cinnamon for about 4 minutes until frothy. Add brandy and vodka while stirring.
Place the bowl on the simmering water and let it thicken for 8 minutes while stirring. If you have a thermometer at home, heat the egg mass to at least 55 ° C.
Halve the vanilla pod and scrape out the pulp. Remove the bowl from the pan and mix the egg mixture with the vanilla pulp.
Transfer everything to a glass bottle and refrigerate for at least 6 hours.
