Why is Aamir Khan hated in India

Indian actor Irrfan Khan has died

His role in "The Amazing Spider Man", as an adult "Pi" in "Life of Pi - Shipwreck with Tiger" or his role as the pragmatic police superintendent in "Slumdog Millionaire" - Irrfan Khan was not only a star in Bollywood. The Indian also played in western productions - for example alongside Tom Hanks or Emma Stone.

Considered one of the finest Indian actors, Khan was known for displaying a wide range of emotions with a twitch of his eyebrows or an eye movement.

Several international awards

After attending drama school and subsequent roles in theater and television productions, Khan played in almost one hundred films, including Bollywood films as well as many Hollywood successes such as "The Amazing Spider Man" or "Inferno". He has already received two Filmfare Awards and a Screen Actors Guild Award. In 2017 Irrfan Khan was accepted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which awards the Oscars every year.

In 2018, Khan withdrew from the public eye after being diagnosed with cancer and received longer treatment in London. But last year he returned to work. Earlier this week, he was hospitalized with an intestinal infection. Now Irrfan Khan died of complications in a hospital in Mumbai. He was 53 years old. Khan "fought to the end and inspired everyone around him," his spokesman said.
